The Annapolis Field Naturalists Society, founded in 1988, is part of an active network of 13 like-minded organizations around the province of Nova Scotia.
Our fundamental message is to inspire and encourage all age groups to explore and appreciate Nova Scotia's vast and extraordinary natural history; and to promote the protection of our environment and the conservation of the regions natural habitats and ecosystems.
Members of AFNS participate in the yearly Christmas Bird Count, the Maritime Breeding Bird Atlas program and many other educational and community nature-oriented activities.
The Annapolis Field Naturalists Society is a member of Nature Nova Scotia, formerly called the Federation of Nova Scotia Naturalists.
General meetings are held the second Wednesday of every month, except December, June, July & August, at 7:30 pm at the Granville Ferry Community Hall. Guest speakers consistently expand our world with stimulating, insightful topics on contemporary natural history, followed by a spirited exchange of ideas and information. Most meetings include a PowerPoint™ or slide show presentation, with a question and answer period. Members and guests are given an opportunity at each meeting to up-date us concerning their activities, correspondence or environmental issues. A social time & refreshments follow guest presentations. |
